Country Comparison by Birth Rate

Birth rates of countries all over the world are defined as the number of births per 1000 residents. A high birth rate ultimately results in an increase in the population of the country. Of course, the death rate needs to be taken into consideration to establish the growth of the population number or the lack thereof. Currently, one of the fastest growing populations out there is the Nigerian one. The birth rate in the country is the highest.

A high birth rate is not necessarily associated with a prosperous nation. Sometimes, it can be quite the opposite, as people in under-developed countries are prone to having more babies because of the lack of access to birth control. It also depends on the cultural environment and the views of the population on procreation, which are often tied to religious beliefs.

Birth rates are interesting to analyze in the context of the economy and well-being of a country, but they are not standalone key factors. Is the birth rate of a country something you look up before going on vacation there? Probably not. But you’ve got to look up some nice hotel rooms for your stay, right?
