According to UN estimates, around 54% of the total population of the world live in the urban area in 2016. Even with the big cities of the world that seem to take up so much space, the distribution of urban versus rural population still seems to be even, although slightly increasing with the years passing by. Although most countries maintain a balance, there are some countries out there that fit more into the extremes.
Take Vatican City for example. As its own name says, this is a city state, which therefore places its entire population in the urban area. 100% urban population here. At the opposite side of things we find Papua New Guinea, with its urban population only rising up to 13,3%.
