From a population total of 1,932,774, the labor force is 500,300 (2017 est.). The main products in agriculture are: wheat, corn, berries, potatoes, peppers, fruit; dairy, livestock; fish. Among the main industries considerable for the economy are: mineral mining, construction materials, base metals, leather, machinery, appliances, foodstuffs and beverages, textiles. Its exports cover mining and processed metal products, scrap metals, leather products, machinery, appliances, prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco, vegetable products, textiles and apparel.
